My rantings :

Like everybody else, after reading the summary, I didn’t really interested to watch it. The combination of “cute girl” and “HIV” is devastating already. And as K-Drama addict, I knew already that if there is main formula “incurable disease” in the story, you will expected to prepare boxes of tissue.
Then, I stumbled upon a review of this series in other blog, and it said that the serial is good, refreshing, and touching. Also, my best friend, Linda was watching it too, and she said she really like it ( she is rarely like upon a serial, she really has weird taste, anyway.. :-P )
So I decided to give it a try.
And I got hooked.
The storyline is not cliche, and it’s not sad-tear jerker type. I cried, of course, but most of the time, I felt admired the characters than felt sad on them.
Young Shin ( mom ) is a strong but naive kind of girl. I really admired the way she handled the fact that her child was wrongly infected HIV. She wasn’t mad, angry or getting crazy, but said to her crying brother that she doesn’t want anybody cry over Bom ( the child ).
It was HIV! An incurable virus! and yet, she had to face it by herself, since she’s an unmarried mother.

I love the way she talked to Bom, friendly style. And the way she explain to Bom, instead saying that she has incurable and infectious disease, she said that Bom should not show her blood to anyone else, use the handkerchief which mom gave, just because Bom is an angel, so nobody can not see her blood.
It’s so sweet, I almost cried hearing that.

I guess I can’t be a mom like Young Shin. I’ll be mad, sue the hospital, and won’t let the doctor go. Or shot the doctor with the virus..:))

Young Shin also can keep calm facing mother of -the man who makes her pregnant because of bet with his friend that she’d sleep with him- who keeps dragging her to go to blind dates, because she hates their neighbors keep gossiping that Bom is her grandchild. ( which is somehow she knows it’s true, but she keeps deny it. )
If I am in Young Shin’s position, without thinking, I will tell her to go to hell. I am not asking your son to take responsible, why you keep nagging me?

Then, the doctor. Min Gi Seo is ignorant, rich and careless person.

He can’t accept the fact that his late girlfriend was the one who has to responsible made Bob infected. He came to Blue Island - where Young Shin and Bom live - to take teddy bear that his gf gave to Bom before she died.
I love the way Young Shin and Gi Seo’s relationship develop. Not in rush, but in reasonable way.

And, the real starlet of the drama, little Bom ( which means Spring in Korean ).
She is really adorable! I must admit that the little actress is not beautiful, compare with my favorite Jung Da Bin from “Wonderful Life”, but her acting is superb! I really admired her talent, she really can pull out her face, when she feels sad, happy, or just being naughty.

The dialogs here were excellent. Their lines just came into my heart, and feel so meaningful.
The kind that you’ll rarely meet in similar drama. Smart, witty and far beyond cheesy.

I think most women who saw this serial would be touched - unless she’s cold blooded one- and moms will more understand how hard to see your innocent daughter has to suffer.

Oh, I think I can always remember those hart warming scenes,
- when Young Shin tells Bom that she’s God send angel
- when Young Shin and Bom have to find their lost dementia grandfather - they even have prepared missing person flyer. I feel sad seeing that.
- when Bom cried to grandfather, because she felt guilty made him left by saying that she and grandfather were burden for Young Shin
- when Gi Seo took care of grandfather. You feel that he’s already in love with YS. but Love is not always need to be said..really.

you should watch by yourself to find out!

I also want to highlight the casts.

I never saw Gong Hyo Jin’s work in the past, but I guess she really fits to Young Shin’s character.
She reflects the village girl-rather naive but persistent, with lots of love to anyone. This character needs someone that not too pretty, but rather nice and sincere looking.

Jang Hyuk! Never thought that I missed his works so much!
He had special aura, rough-cynical-arrogant type, but still can sweeps away many girls with his roughness.
And, look at his new hot bod! Now we now what he was doing in the military service.
No need to say, he really nailed Min Gi Seo’s role, which sometimes rude and ignorant, but can be gentle and caring in other times.

And then, Shin Sung Rok. I saw him before in Hyena, sex themed serial, where he played as a gay there.
I noticed him there, among other male casts, because he had puppy look, tall and seem as a nice guy.
Here, he can show the struggle to admit that he’s Bom’s father- which his mother always denies-, his wish to give back the attention and care that he should give to the kid, but in the same time,
he’s already in a relationship with a nice lady.
I can’t really blame Suk Hyun, because he really doesn’t know Bom’s existence, eventhough it was his fault making fun of Young Shin in the beginning.

Seo Shin Ae as Lee Bom, she really has the talent! As a child, she can expresses the feeling of the role just by the facial expressions.
Hope she can continue her career as an actress in the future!

Mr Lee, the dementia grandfather, oh, I feel so sorry of him. Me, myself, don’t think can face the kind of problem, have to take care old man whom often missing and lost his mind.
If I am in this situation, maybe I already sent him to the care center.

And the final conclusion?
This is the serial that I would recommend, to anyone!
