I wasn’t interested to this series at first. It’s a period drama, which is not my cup of tea, and it said about independence movement or something like that..
But after I read some comments for javabeans, what drama she should recap after the “Coffee Prince”’s craze, I took the suggestion for myself, and gave this one a try.
I am not disappointed..fortunately.
It was a great journey, fun, light hearted story, and turned refreshing. My experiences with this period ( 1920-1930s ) drama was only with Taiwanese “Romance in the Rain” ( starring : Vicky Zhao and Leo Koo - which is I am not sure is it from same period though, but I’m so lazy to check..:p ). But this is KOREAN drama.
And it has beautiful catchy opening song :
Gyung Sung Scandal by Eru

It portrays a love story that happened in the 1930s. Sun Woo Wan is the youngest son of a rich and famous family and he is involved in the independence movement. Lee Soo Hyun is a Chosun person, who rises amongst the ranks of the government and Cha Song Joo is a famous bar hostess in one of the top class restaurants.
* Kang Ji Hwan as Sun Woo Wan
* Han Ji Min as Na Yu Kyung
* Ryu Jin as Lee Soo Hyun
* Han Go Eun as Cha Song Joo
Trivia : The story is based on a novel written by Lee Sun Mi (이선미) whom the same author of “Coffee Prince”
I heard ( or read technically ) that this was funny, and I thought, “how can revolution story be funny?” “but WTH, as long as Kang Ji Hwan is in it, I’ll absolutely give it a try!”
It was fun. See the dancing scenes :

Swing dance apparently was illegal that time, but they secretly held the dance session underground. I never know that Kang Ji Hwan can dance! :p But then I read somewhere that he is a stage actor so he’s familiar doing dance and singing.
The costumes are interesting. I like Sun Woo Wan’s ( KJH’s character ), even sometimes they’re little bit too flashy? bright? or just weird color and pattern combination? Check these :

Anyway, this is not a ( very ) serious drama regarding to their poster. After finished it, I remembered most was the scenes of Wan and Jo Mal Ja aka Yu Kyung..
The scenes like :
This couple has height difference, which is make them looks cute on screen, one is so tall and one is so tiny..( KJH is about 184cm and Han Ji Min is only 160cm! )
Overall, nothing I can really complain about this, but I quite disappointed with the ending. Too simple to my liking. Well, nothing is perfect, right?
